Descrição
We all love the new Z lenses – they’re sharp, fast, and just feel great to use.
But there’s one thing many of us don’t really use: the Control Ring. Not because it’s not useful, but because it’s too sensitive.
A small accidental touch and suddenly your exposure, focus, or aperture changes. That’s why most people just disable it. Shame, right?
The Fix
This little part changes that.
We simply cover the Control Ring… with a cover 😄 – but not completely! It just guards the ring while keeping a 45° opening between the side logo and top marking, so you can still reach and use it precisely.
You can easily turn it with your thumb or index finger, everything stays readable, but you won’t bump it by accident anymore.
Small part – big benefit: finally, you can use the Control Ring confidently without worrying about accidental changes. It lets you actually enjoy one of the coolest features of these new Z-lenses.
Versions
There are currently two designs:
- 14–24 mm and 24–70 mm share the same version.
- 70–200 mm has its own slightly different version because of the AF and limiter switch area.
Compatibility
So far, these three lenses are confirmed to fit. It looks like the diameter between bayonet mount and control ring is about 70 mm across all Z-lenses, so it should work on others too with small tweaks.
If you try it on a different lens – please share your feedback or modification requests!
The more data we get, the easier it is to refine and expand the design.
Installation
Just clip the guard directly onto the Control Ring – no tools, no glue. It simply snaps into place and stays secure.
If it feels a bit tight, warm it gently or scale it up by 0.2–0.3% in your slicer.
