FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will DOUBLE SLEEVED decks fit?

How tall is your deck when compressed? Double sleeving isn't a standard unlike single sleeving. The individual thicknesses can vary per card depending pm the inner and outer sleeve. That being said, double sleevers seem happy with the optional ‘LITE’ deck tray in the profiles but your milage may vary.

Standard Deck Trays: 70mm tall decks (compressed) — 120 single sleeved cards

Deck Caddy / Organizer: 70mm tall decks (compressed) — 120 single sleeved cards

Deck Tray LITE: 72mm tall decks (compressed) — 124-126 single sleeved cards

The 72mm Deck Tray LITE should fit your entire double sleeved 100-card deck, compressed. Then you will have the accessories tray for any token cards etc.

Will TRIPLE SLEEVED decks fit?

Don't be ridiculous. I'll release a triple sleeve monster when V2 arrives though — I promise.

Will non-standard sleeves fit?

No, if you sleeve your sleeves, I'm afraid not. — I will consider edge case usage scenarios after V2 arrives but you guys will have to start supplying me stuff to measure and be sure. I can't work from rough, trust me bro measurements anymore — too much wasted time and filament for the people testing.

The commander display slot, what fits properly?

A top loader is the quickest and easiest option but other than that there's a small adapter in the print profiles you can print that will allow you to just use a single or double sleeved card.

The Commander display slot — what about snap cases?

The only standardisation between snap cases seems to be the Snap Minis. I designed an altered box to fit the Ultra Pro Mini Snaps — the entire box is bigger as a result along with the lid to compensate. It is not publicly available as I do not wish to fully support it at this period in time. You can however join the Discord and tag me to ask for it. I'll link you the files. Long story short, it's a beta until V2 arrives. People seem very happy with it though.

I do not wish to support any more snap cases. I cannot establish any standardisation which means each brands magnetic snap case is a different size and I engineer the box around the card display. This is why my box is nice, and nearly all others are ugly. Except Wes Yarber's, his is very good and I like him as he's a good designer.

If you can put the effort in and help me establish some standardisation… maybe theres only two sizes or something and you fancy sending me some of these cases, I'll make sure V2 has a compatible box that looks the best it possibly can. I'm not particularly fond of having to fork out high priced plastic just to design a box that a few people will make use of. If you really want this and are open to sending me some, join the discord and lets discuss it, I'm UK based.

No magnets or glue AND it locks? Yup.

— make sure to read tips below!

MTG Commander Lockable Deck Box – Secure Edition — with Positive-Lock Slider

A deck box built to last, not to save 20g of filament. This is a solid print designed to carry, respect and protect a full Commander deck plus extras, with a proper locking mechanism. Roughly about an 8 hour print all in all — I can assure you its worth it compared to more basic ones.

What it holds

  • Main bay: fits a full 100-card Commander deck in sleeves, plus room for token cards.
  • Utility bay: carry dice, a sideboard, or two included mini card trays (great for graveyard/exile on the table).
  • Front display: slot for your Commander in a top-loader for protection and quick ID. (Sleeved-only display version will be added if there’s demand.)

Why it’s different

  • Two-shell body with an internal slider lock. The outer and inner shells house a guided, replaceable slider—no magnets, no flimsy friction lid. As far as I can tell, this is the first positive-lock slider deck box on MakerWorld.
  • Three lock feels included: Light / Medium / Heavy.

    • Light = easiest action, may allow the lid a hint of wobble when locked.
    • Medium = balanced.
    • Heavy = the most secure, beds in to a satisfying thunk. (I prefer Heavy once it’s worn in.)

  • Bottom push-hole for fast access. A dedicated push port in the base lets you finger-press the inner bays upward and out of the outer shell — no turning upside down, or prying. Works for the deck bay and the utility bay when stacked.

Print guidance & Tips

The included profile is ideal and fully setup; only change it if you know why. Fair warning for the newer people.

  • Material: PLA/PLA+ for general use.
  • Layer height: ~0.2 mm recommended.
  • Walls: go thicker over clever—this model rewards rigidity (e.g., ≥3 walls/perimeters).
  • Infill: 15% is plenty; strength comes from walls and geometry.

    IMPORTANT! — LOCK SLIDER TIPS

  • Orientation matters: Print the lock slider flat @ 45 degrees rotation ensuring its printed laterally. Rotating them will weaken the latch and can cause a “tank-track” feel or worse just snap straight away. Redownload a fresh copy of the model if unsure and study the first layer.
  • Different PLAs and PETGs can produce wildly different results in terms of lock slider stiffness / smoothness. I've personally had the best experience with Matte and Silk PLA filaments in that they start out tough but after you move it back and fourth 20, 30 times it gets softer and easier. I've found PLA+ to be the toughest in some scenarios to the point I have carefully used mineral oil or Superlube PTFE oil which worked great.
  • I'd recommend printing on a Supertack Cool plate or the standard Textured PEI plate. It releases the easiest which causes less issues.

Parts included

  • Outer shell
  • Inner shell
  • Lid
  • Lock Slider – Light
  • Lock Slider – Medium
  • Lock Slider – Heavy
  • Utility/Dice tray
  • Two minimal card trays
  • Thinner-walled card tray to help with double sleeved decks

Assembly

  1. Print the Outer, Inner and one lock slider to start.
  2. Put the lock slider in place on the inside of the outer box, I've designed it so it only works one way.
  3. Whilst keeping the lock slider roughly in place insert the inner box. The inner box will lock into place.
  4. Slide on the lid, test the overall fit etc.
  5. Test your chosen lock; it will bed-in after a several speedy open/close cycles.
  6. Insert your Commander card in a standard top-loader and drop it into the front display slot.
  7. To remove a bay, use the bottom push-hole to push the tray up and clear the lip, then lift out.
  8. If you wish to try out other locks, carefully and patiently pry apart the inner and outer boxes — you'll be able to pull the lock out and insert a new one with a little messing around.

Roadmap

(Available in Discord — it changes so I've removed it from the listing)

Feedback, photos and real-world fit reports (sleeve brands, double-sleeve notes, etc.) are very welcome — your comments will shape the next revisions. If you'd prefer to speak direct to you me or if you've any issues whatsoever make use of the Discord group. I'll always help out where needed.
