This stand is designed specifically for the Verbatim External USB CD/DVD Writer – Model 98938. The design addresses one of the biggest issues with these drives: the power cable connection that easily comes loose when the drive is moved/shifted, even slightly.

The stand securely holds one or more drives in place, preventing both forward and backward sliding.

• The base unit keeps the drives from sliding forward.
• The top piece keeps them from moving backward.
• Side clips hold the layers in place.

The pictured drive setup is placed beneath an Ikea Vattenkar desktop shelf. 

• Plate 1 = the housing for the drive
• Plate 2 = this is the base unit - if you want to position the thing at the back edge of your desk, it'll keep the drive from shifting forward if you pull or nudge on the drive tray.
• Plate 3 = this is the top piece - lock it in place with the pieces from plate 4. 
  • Bonus: if you place your setup under an IKEA Vattenkar shelf (or something similar), that lip sticking up off the top will keep the unit from shifting backward when you push the drive tray back into the housing.
• Plate 4 = the little clips to keep the plates together.
