This is a project I have been wanting to make for some time now. In fact, this is not my first attempt. About half a year ago I tried to make a 3d printed padlock, but I ran into problems with friction! About a week ago I figured I would give it another try… And I did it!!! After six days of hard work, I have created a functional and fully 3d printed padlock that is unlike any other 3d printed lock there is!
What makes this lock so unique?
- No extra hardware required. You don’t need to buy any screws, bolts, springs, or other parts.
- It is actually a lock. Some other 3d printed locks, you can put any size of key in and it will still open. Not this one!
- I basically had to reinvent the lock to make it 3d printable… so that makes it quite unique. :)
Specifications:
• Material: PLA works fine
• Filament Usage: 48 grams
• Cost: $1.20 with Bambu PLA
• Print Time: Just under 2hr on the a1 mini
