Description
Little Joe Model Rocket β Launchable 3D Print
This is a fully 3D-printable, launch-capable model rocket based on Little Joe, the NASA test vehicle used in the early 1960s to evaluate the Mercury spacecraft launch escape system. The real Little Joe was a small, solid-fueled booster designed to simulate the intense conditions of a crewed launch, ensuring astronaut safety before manned Mercury missions began.
Features of this model:
- Scale-inspired design β captures the look of Little Joe with tower and capsule detail.
- Two capsule/tower options β one reinforced version for flight, and one detailed version for display.
- Launch-ready build β designed for standard rocket motors. Fit is intentionally snug; a quick whirl with sandpaper around the engine casing ensures a perfect fit.
- Recovery system β model is designed to use a parachute and shock cord.
Notes & Disclaimer:
- This rocket has not yet been flight tested. Flight testing will be carried out in the coming weeks.
- Always follow safe rocketry practices and local regulations.
- Parachute and shock cord must be added for recovery (not provided in the model files).
Enjoy building, displaying, and (soon) flying your own piece of spaceflight history! π
