Modelo 3D Desktop E-Ink Display Frame por jmsdrpr no MakerWorld

Descrição

E-Ink Display Frame

For digital calendars, clocks, weather stations and more!

I am pleased to present you my E-ink display frame!. The main goal was to make an aesthetically pleasing shell to mount and encase the hardware required to run a dashboard which can display a calendar, clock, etc.

The design takes inspiration from the Apple iMac while using a friction-fit design to reduce assembly complexity.

This can serve as a great mini-project for assembling electronics, perfect for kids wanting to dive into hardware electronics, or adults looking for a way to level up their office or kitchen space.

🔧 Design Highlights

  • Compatible with Raspberry Pi Model B+ form factor (3,4,5);
  • Designed for Waveshare 7.5" displays, colour or monotone.
  • Cable management built within the stand
  • Rounded, iPad-like bezel for a modern and discrete feel;
  • Friction-fit parts — assembly is satisfying and straight-forward;
  • No glue required;
  • No AMS system needed;
  • No screws or bolts needed;

🧩 Model Details

The design consists of 3 parts

  • Bezel - Holds the display in-place, attaches to the electronics case.
  • Electronics case - Holds the Raspberry Pi and related display electronics.
  • Stand - Attaches to the Electronics case to hold the integrated sections upright and at an angle.

🖨️ Printing Notes

While this is a relatively simple model, it’s also a solid printer test.

  • To successfully print this model, please ensure your printer is properly calibrated, the build plate is clean (I recommend to wash it with something like Fairy before each print), and your filament is dry. I’ve taken care of everything else — just use my provided settings without making any changes.
  • I strongly recommend printing with recommended supports, Tree supports worked best for me. Some parts are friction-fit and require detailed support removal for proper assembly.

🖥️ Software

Software is required to be installed onto the Raspberry Pi in order to run the E-Ink display.

  • I use (and recommend) InkyPi. This features several plugins which can be configured to display different items on rotation or on demand.
  • This includes a weather dashboard, various clock designs, a calendar, AI generated images, wikipedia articles, or even newspapers.
  • Feel free to use any E-Ink display / dashboard software you see fit, you could even build your own if you fancy a challenge!
  • Download and install InkyPi using the instructions on their GitHub Repository: [https://github.com/fatihak/InkyPi](https://github.com/fatihak/InkyPi)
  • I am not responsible for creating or maintaining InkyPi. Install and run at your own risk and always do your own research beforehand.
  • I do not claim any credit for making or helping to make InkyPi. I strongly recommend you check out the creator's series on YouTube though!

I hope this model can help improve your daily workflow, organisation or desk setup!
Happy Printing!
