Modelo 3D Camera Dolly por xefke no MakerWorld

Descrição

This is my camera dolly. It's my most elaborate project to date.
Unfortunately I only started with 3D modeling and 3D printing after the photography contest on Makerworld was done, but I still hope that people have fun with this.

Let me tell you some things about my design:

  • Why 3 wheels?
    • because when using 4 wheels, the outside wheels should be at a different angle, using the triangular design alleviates this. Also it's more fun, because I was able to incorporate gears, who does not like gears :D
  • Why 2 versions?
    • this is because I designed the light version first with camera phones in mind. This works great for phones and for light cameras, but when putting my DSLR on it, it bowed too much, so I decided to add a heavy version that can take heavier camera's and DSLRs and added the possibility for mounting a ¼" male to male adapter in the center.
This also adds the possibility for adding (phone) gymbals like the DJI Osmo (mobile).
  • Why not a turntable?
    • I think there are a lot of very nice turntable versions on makerworld already, so I did not see any need for reinventing the wheel. However, I was not able to find a lot of camera dollies.
    • An added benefit of a dolly is that you have more uses for it.
      • You can use it to capture bigger objects like pets or people (that would not fit on the turntable)
      • You can use it in a straight line to have the slider effect or the dolly zoom effect, as you can use gymbals on the dolly as well thanks to the ¼" camera screw connection possibility
      • You can capture the object from an angle with differentiating distances by not having the object in the center axis, which gives nice effects.
      • You can use it for 3D scanning with your phone. As the advice here is not to use a turntable so the software can better distinguish the background from your object.
  • How does it work?
    • You can use the 2 arms to put the wheels at an angle, because of the gears, the arms will always rotate together with each other making sure that the camera on the dolly is facing the subject or object that you want to capture.
    • Dependant on the angle of the arms you arc around the object (arms angled towards the object) or you arc away from the object (arms angled away from the object.)
    • The smallest circle the dolly can make is 40cm.
  • While the wheels are included, you would also have the possibility to use inline skate wheels, since they use the 608zz bearings as well. This will give you bigger wheels and therefore more stability on non flat ground.

The light version prints in under 3 hours and uses 80 grams of filament.

The heavy version prints in 3.5 hours and uses 105grams of filament.

UPDATE: Added print profiles for the A1 Mini users. Was not able to fit all on 1 plate however, so 2 plates it is.

I have added a PDF that explains the assembly in detail. Give it a look if you are interested!

I hope this can be useful for some of you!
Let me know if you have any questions.
