I found myself wanting to place some wire-like things that i have in small amounts in drawers in a way that didn't end up getting tangled. The boxes were cool for it until i opened it up and I had the same issues with just bundling in a drawer. So this was my middle road solution that might also tempt others too. Good luck. 

Note that I haven't spent much time tuning the model so although it is print in place there is quite a bit of force thats required to break the spindle free, the hole on the bottom has a slot that i use a flat head screwdriver to aide in winding. I have had an instance where the spindle became free of the case due to putting too much torque on it when the case was already filled, it popped back in just fine after. The slot does get damaged being printed in PLA, but it doesn't impede on the function and i cant imagine a scenario where you'd be respooling too often anyway. I might make adjustments to the design later as I get more use from it or if theres any recommendations.

Oh and the labels are just 12mm Brother Tze tape, I have a templating system I use for generating them. Labelling boxes is possibly the single best thing for anyone who is cursed to store small things, I highly recommend doing it early and often.
