Descrição
Since I often require various sorting boxes for my things, I decided to make a parametric model to quickly generate a suitable box. No more spending time modifying a 3D model.
The parametric model consists of two parts. The compartment box generator and the lid generator.
First, generate the box and note down the parameter values. You will need them for the lid.
Input the same parameters for the lid generator and generate the lid.
Print the parts and you can sort and store your things.
Read the description of each parameter and notes first.

Parameters
- Rows - number of compartment (width)
- Cols - number of compartments (length)
- Compartment w - compartment width in [mm]
- Compartment l - compartment length in [mm]
- Compartment h - compartment height in [mm]
- Wall internal - wall thickness between compartments in [mm]
- Wall external - box external wall thickness in [mm]
- Inner radius - compartment inner edges radius in [mm]
- Lid spacing - lid spacing from the box in [mm]
Parameters in bold are basic parameters that you need to update depending on your needs.
Underscored parameters are advanced parameters that you can keep at the default value or update if required.
Notes
Lid spacing parameters determines how much larger the lid internal opening is compared to box external dimensions. The spacing is equal for each side, meaning that lid internal opening = box size + 2 x lid spacing.
You should not set this to 0. Default value of 0.1 mm provides some friction between the lid and the box, depending how well your filament flow rate is calibrated. The lid is not easily opened with this value.
I recommend you start with a larger value, for example 0.2 mm and decrease it if you need a tighter fit.
Changing this parameter will only change the lid and has no impact on the box.
Increasing the wall thicknesses will make the box stronger but consume more filament. The default values are suitable for most use cases.
The internal compartment radius is an additional feature that makes the whole box look nicer. The external corners are rounded as well, depending on this value, to keep the wall width consistent.
