Docking stand for compact switch 2 dock

This model is a docking stand for Nintendo Switch 2, with parts from original dock and custom made shell with stands.

Most parts, including fasteners, are salvaged from OEM Switch 2 Dock. One other part needs to be purchased from Amazon.

Preparation                                                                                     

Printed Parts

Stand alone use - 3 parts are printed

• Shell for holding all components
• usbc connector holder
• Basic stand (no need if use with Compact Nintendo Switch 2 Dock)

Use with Compact Nintendo Switch 2 Dock - 2 piece assembly for Combo dock stand

Purchased Parts

This assembly requires flat usbc extension cable with couple spec:

• USB 3.1 capable (10 Gbps), not sure what spec NS uses, going with this is safer though
• Flat male connector that turns 90 degree
• Plastic liner around male connector that can be cut off

If you were to find other cables, make sure it is not USB 2. I see a lot of these cable only carry USB 2 specs

Parts from NS2 dock

• Docking assembly - 3 plastic parts and 2 springs
• Phillips head screws x8
• Small Phillips head screws x2

If screws from OEM dock are used when assembling Compact Nintendo Switch 2 Dock, here are some more

Turns out these screws can be used on usbc connector, we need 2 of these 4

Assembly                                                                                          

Docking assembly

• Place usbc extension cable on the springy bottom part and usbc holder piece over it
• Screw in smaller Phillips head screws

• Put all salvaged parts back together like OEM dock, fasten 4 screws on bottom

• Install OEM assembly into shell
• Fasten the remaining 4 screws on bottom

Basic Stand

• Slide into basic stand

• (Optional) Put rubber feet from OEM dock on the stand

Combo Stand

• Assemble Combo stand

• Insert docking assembly and Compact Nintendo Switch 2 Dock

Power on and test

Basic stand stack on top of Compact dock

So the extension cable I used in this assembly comes in 2 packs,

and Cable Matters make 90 degree usbc adapter in another direction.

With these we can simply stack basic stand on top of Compact Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
