Back Story of Original HeatSync Project:

Over the past 2 years I've made and sold 3D prints that need metal threads to attach screws, and I got sick of using my cheap heat insert press from Amazon, so I decided to make my ideal version! I've produced 1000's of parts with this tool so far and it is my proudest creation. This is by far my most unique and useful tool in my 3D printing workshop. This soldering iron press uses both 3D printed parts as well as metal inserts and mountings to make it as sturdy and professional as possible. The main thing that I wanted to have in my own custom insert press was the ability to use jigs to hold my specific parts that I manufacture almost like a conveyor belt system for maximum efficiency. The other truly unique feature is the ability to swap out different soldering irons for different size inserts. I got tired of waiting for the iron to cool down to unscrew the M4 tip (and prevent burning myself again). Hopefully it will help you as well! For your convenience I've added affiliate links to where you can buy the hardware needed for this project. *Not all 3rd party soldering irons will be compatible with this system.* 

Filament: 

• PETG-HF : (heat resistant material REQUIRED for the soldering iron housing. They can get kind of hot with extended use)
• PLA : Should be fine to be used for the rest of the parts.

4. Extension Hook Spring (9x60mm or similar size)

7. M4x10mm Thumbscrews (x3 needed)
8. M4 threaded inserts (x24 needed)

Assembly: (The newest version has in depth instructions)

The assembly process should take around 10-15 minutes. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver and 2 sets of needle nose pliers.
