rEVOLVERack - Expandable Hardware Organizer
A hardware organizer rack that uses your old empty Bambu or V3 Sunlu filament spools (Please check out my other model for V2 Sunlu spools). Clean up your space with this easy to print, expandable model that includes 8 sliding drawers with dividing bins! Customizable labels allow you to know what each drawer or level has. Easily make multiple levels by printing more than 1 set! This new model now has a printed post instead of using a PVC pipe like in previous versions. I have some ideas to make this more modular with multiple adapters and different prints instead of just drawers, stay tuned for future releases!
NOTES
Nothing is needed hardware wise to make this work, only a small amount of super glue! My personal print uses no hardware and works fine, but I've only done this because of the iterations that were being made.
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND using a M3 heated insert into the smaller portion of Hex Pipe and connect each pipe using a M3 BH (Button Head) screw especially on the first pipe that is connecting into the base for a more solid connection.
I ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMEND printing test prints of the “Slide” and a single “Bambu Drawer” to make sure the connection point is a tight fit but not TO tight. And that the Slide moves freely in the tracks of the Rail.
I printed out of PLA + and PLA Silk, seems to hold up good. Im unsure how it holds up with extended use though.
Be careful when pulling the drawers all the way out as they might disconnect from the slide and spill your contents all over the place..I found out the hard way lol.
ASSEMBLY
Refer to Assembly Guide pictures if confused on orientation of clips or slides and the placement of Alignment tab.
After printing the rail, place a slide (rounded edge towards outer diameter of rail) into each track and super glue a clip into position where the claw is facing inwards towards the slide. Do this for all 8 tracks. REMINDER TO REMOVE ALL SUPPORT FROM BOTTOM OF RAIL BEFORE PROCEEDING.
Slide the rail system onto the empty spool half that has the alignment tab, make sure alignment tab is not inside one of the tracks but instead in one of the multiple cutouts on the rail. You can glue the rail in place but it is not necessary for it to operate, if you do glue please be careful not to get glue into the sensitive track area, any glue can cause the slide to seize up. Now place all your Drawers onto the slides. Finish by connecting other half of the spool together.
Press Hex Pipe into Base and screw together (if needed), slide one bearing onto pipe with smaller lip facing up. Slide assembled spool over the pipe and press bearing into the bottom. Flip the other bearing and slide down onto Hex Pipe into the upper half of spool. This should align the spool and allow you to spin it like a lazy susan. Hex spacers are used if making multiple levels, this will give a slight gap in between, you can make the gap as big as you'd like. Base could use rubber feet to keep it from spinning (if needed)
**WHEN STACKING MULTIPLE SPOOLS* be careful not to press down on each level to much, the friction will cause the level below to bind up and not rotate as well.
Drawer Labels can be customized using the “Objects” tab, right clicking on each “Edit Text” object and selecting edit text. This will allow you to enter whatever your heart desires.
