Recycled SUNLU Spool Modular Storage (6-Drawer Stackable Unit)
!!! Update !!!
As suggested, I came up with a solution for the drawers to stay in place when moving, no need for additional parts, just print it.
It's best to print the pieces at a .1 layer hight so the bulbs wont make much noise when opening the drawers, also, they will open easyer at a .1 layer hight :)
I've added 3 print profiles:
- the locking bulbs for the smaller and the larger version
- the hollow connecter to stack the spools, less filament used
Give your empty SUNLU filament spools (#41-2 model) a second life with this modular 3D printed drawer system, designed to transform used spools into a functional, stackable storage solution. Perfect for organizing small parts, tools, or accessories right at your desk or printer station.
Key Features:
- Six Drawer Layout: Includes STL files for six slide-in drawers and customizable front panels that fit snugly into the inner rim of standard SUNLU spools.
- Snap-In Locking Mechanism: Each drawer is secured in place with printed snap-in bolts, preventing unwanted sliding or spills—no glue or screws needed.
- Stackable Design: You can stack multiple spool units vertically to create a tall drawer tower using additional spools—modular, scalable, and sturdy.
- Label-Ready Fronts: Each drawer face features a built-in slot for a 38x20 mm paper or printed label (0.8 hight), allowing easy customization or stylish icons.
- Printing: All parts are optimized for clean FDM printing with minimal post-processing.
- Sustainable & Practical: Reduces plastic waste by repurposing spools while helping you stay organized.
Whether you're storing screws, zip ties, Arduino bits, or resin filters, this printable drawer system brings order and personality to your workspace.
To edit the labels, just switch to Object tab, and edit the “Text Shape”.
I've included the ones without labels also (1st atempt) but i think you will prefer the labeled ones :)
