Tired of the look of plastic?
Create a container using toothpicks. It looks fun, uses little filament and imports the look of wood with a very cheap material.
Print the “Ring” first to check if it fits your toothpick - it should slide through the hole entirely with no issue. If yours is on the thicker side, customize on the customizer and increase toothpick radius a bit.
Size on the print profile is 12x15cm, and uses 120 toothpicks. Customize any size and number of toothpicks you want - less will leave more spacing, more will be closer together. The software calculates to distribute them all across the lenght.
Assembly instructions:
- Print Base, Ring and Finishing
- Add glue to the base. I used silicon glue, which has some viscosity but is slow to dry, so you can put a lot of sticks before it dries out.
- Put the toothpicks through the ring, just like the video. The reason for this is that it's almost impossible to line everything up to put the top if they are only anchored on the bottom. That ring helps line up all toothpicks to put on the top.
- To close it off, put some glue on the top finishing. It has the exact right tolerance to fit inside the finishing with a gentle push.
It all sounds complicated but took around 10 minutes to put it together.
