IMPORTANT

Make sure that the second plate (pin bottoms) has a pause just before the holes for the nuts are closed. This is crucial for the screws to be held in place.

Materials

This print can be done with PLA, PETG, ABS, etc. as long as the filament is hard. This design requires two 10mm M3 screws and nuts, but I have attached the f3d files to make it possible for other sizes of screws to be used.

Assembly

To assemble the model, simply place the top of the pin into the slot in the handle and attach the pin bottom on the opposite side. Use the screws to hold the pin together and firmly in place on the slide. To finish, sand or file the screws in a square shape to the desired size for the case(s) of your watch(s). 

Usage

To adjust the position of the pins, slightly loosen the screws and push to the desired positions. Simply press the tool to the watch back and carefully twist. Be careful not scratch the case back!

About the Design

I recently got into horology when fixing a watch for my mother, and then looked for more to work on. I designed a fully 3d printed watch opener that was specific to each watch, but this had many flaws including it's unadjustable nature and constant breaking. I then decided that making an adjustable version would not only save me filament, but also save me space in my tool box (not that these tools are very big). While designing an adjustable tool, it occurred to me that I could improve the contact points between the tool and the watch, and thus I made them metal. While not everyone has access to the screws and nuts I have used, these are pretty common and easy to find.
