Structo — A Modular 3D-Printed Building Kit for Custom Structures

While working in my garden, I often found myself needing lightweight customizable structures to support plants, mark borders, protect new seedlings, and more.
That’s why I developed Structo — a modular, 3D-printed kit that enables easy building of custom 2D and 3D structures, —  from small frames (under 30 cm) to large, full-scale arches or even a walk-in garden gazebo. And all printable using standard-size printers.

♻️ Reusable & Sustainable Structo isn't just a one-season solution. Because the system is fully modular, you can easily disassemble your structures at the end of the season and reuse the same parts to build something entirely different—like turning a summer tomato cage into a winter seedling protector.

🧩 The system includes several key elements:

• Sticks
  12 mm wide, available in lengths from 5 cm to 44 cm. 

  Sticks can be joined together to create longer poles using the connectors.

• Connectors
  Join elements together. There are several types:

  • 2D connectors for flat, grid-like structures.
  • 3D connectors for building spatial-frame (volumetric) structures

   

  Secure the connectors with standard M4 screws and nuts or choose the custom-designed pin for a fully tool-free assembly.
  For ultimate strength, snap the connector covers onto both sides—their integrated pins lock everything in place without any extra fasteners.

   

• Arches
  Modular curved elements that allow you to build arches with radius from 10 cm to over 1 meter.

  Like sticks, arches snap together using connectors to form large arches or rings, and can be printed in sections on any standard printer.

• Bases
  Secure your structure to the ground or a flat surface. Options include:
  • Ground anchors for strong, durable outdoor builds
  • Flat bases with holes for screwing into wood, stone, etc.
  • Other mounting options as needed

🖨️ Printing & Material Notes

• All parts are printable on standard-size 3D printers.
• Optimized design to print with minimal or no supports. 

• Use the provided .3MF files, ready-to-print optimized with the correct settings.

   

While most parts are light (approx.1 gram per 1 cm), printing large structures will take time and use significant filament. 

Fortunately, most elements can be printed in bulk — for example, 20 sticks of 24 cm each can fit on one standard build plate.

For outdoor use –- recommend printing with PETG, PETG-CF or ASA, which offers better resistance to sunlight and temperature changes.

Using just the basic sticks and connectors, you can build anything from a simple plant frame or a compact mini greenhouse to a life-size arch or modular gazebo — with no tools beyond a printer.
