🔥 SUPER COOL CAMERA GEAR SETUP 🔥
UPDATE!!
Universal Clamp-On Matte Box for 73mm Barrel Lenses!!
Completely Redesigned to Fit Popular Lenses Like the Sony 24-70mm!
MATTE BOX + 4-WAY SHADE + TOP HANDLE with EXTRA COLD SHOE
Let’s be honest.
We all want our gear to look like it cost five grand — even if it didn’t.
So I built a setup that does just that.
It’s a combo of a solid top handle with an extra cold shoe, and a matte box with magnetic four-way shades.
If you're into photography or video, you know exactly why this matters.
I use a Sony ZV-E10 with a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 — a solid, budget-friendly combo.
But with these accessories?
People think I’m shooting on a full-on cinema rig.
And honestly, it's not just about appearances.
This setup performs.
I used it at a wedding where flashes were firing constantly.
The matte box handled the light beautifully — clean shots, no flares, zero stress.
Also? It looks damn good.
No one guessed I was shooting with an entry-level camera. Not even close.
I designed the matte box specifically for the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (still my top pick for value).
It mounts just like a regular hood — fits perfectly on 55mm threads.
The magnetic shades snap on and off easily and make packing super convenient.
I printed mine in PLA, but if you plan to use this outdoors or long-term, go with PETG — much tougher and impact-resistant.
The shade wings use M2x20mm bolts and nuts, with the nuts cleanly embedded into the shell.
It’s a small detail, but trust me — it’s oddly satisfying when everything clicks in.
The grip is a two-part design joined by a single M3 bolt. Simple, sturdy, and rock solid.
Because yes, your camera deserves protection and stability.
If you don’t have all the hardware, that’s fine.
Just glue it up — it’ll still work (just won’t be modular).
Assembly is easy, but if you run into anything, drop a comment — I’ll walk you through it.

Universal Mount in Progress
I’m honestly surprised (and grateful) that so many people are showing interest.
Your requests and feedback mean a lot — I can’t fulfill every single one, but I’m trying my best.
Since it's tough to make a perfect fit for every lens, I'm developing a universal clamp-on mount.
If this works well, I plan to expand it into multiple versions — large / medium / small diameter categories — to support more lens types.
What makes MakerWorld stand out to me is this back-and-forth communication.
Your feedback pushes me to improve, and in return, I aim to give you more useful, well-crafted designs.
Everybody wins. That’s what makes this space special.
So yeah — I'm still developing, experimenting, and refining.
Support me, talk to me, share ideas — I’ll keep making better stuff in return.
Thanks again, everyone. Truly.
Update 2:
Just added a new print profile!
I’ve been working on a universal version of the mount based on all the great feedback I’ve received.
At the same time, I’m also designing a dedicated SmallRig-style cage for the Sony ZV-E10 (coming soon! It's about 70% done and getting really close to perfect ).
Balancing this with my day job and daily life means progress is a bit slow — but I’m fully committed to making something more people can actually use.
So first of all — thank you, everyone, for your patience and support!
What’s New?
This version is designed for larger lenses, like the Sony 24-70mm — adjusted for barrel diameters around 73mm.
That means the whole thing is bigger, sturdier, and completely redesigned from the ground up.
I put a lot of care into the printability — avoiding unnecessary supports or fragile geometry that could mess up a good print.
Whenever possible, I’ve used recesses and raised areas to help parts align and snap together intuitively.
Even the bolt and nut placements were chosen with both strength and aesthetics in mind (let’s be honest, a little bit of visible hardware looks pretty cool ).
The hinges are reinforced with hidden nuts on the inside so everything locks tightly — and yep, only one nut per hinge is enough.
Shade & Hood
The shade attaches with magnets and a snap-fit design that maximizes storage efficiency.
I added small bumps so it pops on/off smoothly.
Don’t have magnets or don’t want to deal with them? Just glue it — totally works too.
Assembly Info
All parts use standard M3 bolts and nuts, so if you have an M3 hardware kit, you’re good to go.
You’ll also need two 10mm x 3mm magnets for the shade snap feature.
Final Thoughts
I’ve poured a lot of time and love into making this thing as clean and solid as possible.
But I don’t own every lens out there — and just a 1mm difference can require completely reworking the design.
To get about 4mm of “universal” tolerance, I had to print and revise this design dozens of times.
So if you end up trying this out — I’d love for you to know how much that means to me.
This version of the larger clamp-on universal matte box is finally here… so if it fits your lens, please give it a print!
Let me know how it goes
Thanks again, friends!
