When using flash photography, you sometimes want a narrow beam of light for special effects. There are off the shelf solutions, and also DIY solutions with straws, but this one allows you to easily adjust the length of the honeycomb channels the light needs to travel through, to make the beam more or less focused, depending on your needs.

This modular honeycomb grid slides onto your flash unit and stays in place pretty well (if scaled correctly). There are different thicknesses of honeycomb grid that can be inserted into the holder, and snap into place, but can easily be swapped out without removing the holder from the flash unit. If you install more pieces, you can slide one back to have more room for extra pieces. With the provided print profile you can have lenghts ranging from 5 to 30mm in 5mm increments, but you can always add more pieces (and even scale the holder in the Z direction.

If you want wider hexagons, just adapt the infill percentage to your liking.

The holder is printed without supports, and came out fine. With supports it would look a bit better, but Bambu Studio wouldn't even generate automatic supports for that piece.

This is sized for a Godox TT685II flash unit. It can easily be adapter for use on other flash units with the sizing cube on plate 2 using the following steps:

1. 

   Measure the width and height of the front of your flash

2. Adjust the size of the sizing cube on plate 2
   1. turn off “uniform scale”
   2. Enter the width in the x size field (eg: 78mm)
   3. Enter the height in the y size field (eg: 45mm)
   4. Take note of the x and y scale
   5. Set the x and y scale of all objects on plate 1 to the same percentage (in this example 102,63% and 94,74%)
   6. Make sure the modifier blocks are aligned properly
   7. print the parts you need (don't print plate 2, that's just for getting the scale right)
