One of my current favorite designs!
This boomerang flies reliably and returns with ease. The rounded tips give it a smooth flight and a clean look.
Great for casual throws

How to Throw a Boomerang 
 

1. Find out where the wind is coming from.
2. Face directly into the wind.
3. Turn 45–90 degrees to the right (if you're right-handed).
4. Hold the boomerang at about eye level, maybe a little higher.
5. Tilt the boomerang slightly (about 5–10 degrees).
6. When throwing, aim roughly at the horizon, maintain the 5–10 degree tilt, and make sure to give it enough spin!

These are just general throwing guidelines! the exact technique may vary depending on the model and weather conditions.

First, I face the wind with the boomerang, then I turn slightly to the right and get into throwing position.

Wind direction and throw technique are absolutely crucial in boomerang throwing. Depending on the weather, one model might perform better than another….. that’s why I recommend printing 2–3 different designs and heading out to practice!

 

Technical Data:

• Difficulty Level: Easy
• Range: Approximately 10-15 meters, depending on throwing strength and technique

• Recommended Release Angle: 30-65 degrees against the wind at horizontal height, with a tilt of 1-5 percent
   

   

   

  Experience with Wave Y:
  
  Unfortunately, I didn’t get many throws in with this model that day. But even on the first few throws, it already showed a really solid return flight.
  I then tried to increase the throwing angle a bit, but a sudden strong gust of wind hit it during release. The boomerang crashed into the ground and disappeared into the tall grass.
  Sadly, I wasn’t able to find it again. 😢
   

   

   

  Update! 29.06.2025

  
  I've reprinted the model and was able to test it again in calm weather conditions. Wave Y still impresses with its beginner-friendly throwing behavior…. it requires barely any force, just some rotation. After the release, it flies in a circular path, gaining altitude and then gliding back toward the thrower in a smooth descent. This makes it easy to catch and helps reduce frustration, especially for beginners.

  
  
  Additionally, I must warn that a boomerang can be dangerous, so you should ensure nobody is in its path. It's important to remember that a boomerang was originally a hunting weapon. I also recommend printing it in a signal color to make it easier to spot.
