Introducing the "Liminal Ring" Wall Sculpture
Discover a captivating blend of modern artistry and dynamic design with the "Liminal Ring" wall sculpture. This unique piece transforms any space into a focal point of contemporary elegance and intrigue.
"Liminal Ring" is an exploration of form and movement, featuring a mesmerizing series of precisely layered planes that spiral outwards from a central, inviting void. Each "rib" of the sculpture is angled to create a stunning play of light and shadow, shifting subtly with your perspective to reveal new depths and patterns.
Named for its "liminal" quality, this piece evokes the feeling of a threshold - a moment of transition, a gateway to quiet contemplation. Its clean lines and sophisticated geometry offer a modern aesthetic that complements a wide range of interior styles, from minimalist to industrial chic.
"Liminal Ring" is more than just decor; it's a conversation starter, a meditative object, and a testament to the innovative possibilities of modern design and 3D printing technology.
Elevate your home or office with the profound simplicity and intricate beauty of the "Liminal Ring."

Assembly Instructions
Ensure your build plate is properly cleaned to prevent lifting at the corners!

Plate 2 - Rib #5 to Rib #9
Print each of these plates six times - 60 pieces in total. Each rib is numbered on the base.
Plate 3 - Mounting Ring - print this plate once.
UPDATE (2026.01.26)
New Mounting Ring STLs added to “Download STL/CAD Files” with a recess for wall mounting (e.g. an appropriately sized nail/screw) :
30° section - print 12x. Max. scale on 256mm buildplate = ~300%
60° section - print 6x. Max. scale on 256mm buildplate = ~200%
Don't forget to print the same number of retaining pins, at the same scale!
UPDATE (2025.12.06)
STL of a 30° section of Mounting Ring (with dovetail connectors) added to “Download STL/CAD Files”. This will allow you to scale up the model to 250%+ when printing on a 256mm plate (A1/X1/P1 etc.). Print 12 in total for a complete ring. Don't forget to print 12 retaining pins suitably scaled up also.
V2 UPDATE (2025.06.16)
Mounting ring now uses dovetail joints with a retaining pin on the underside.
Dovetails have a 0.1mm tolerance, so should clip together relatively easily. Insert the retaining pin through the hole to hold the dovetail securely in place. You may need to apply a bit of force to push the pin fully through the hole.
The ribs are designed to push-fit into the mounting ring. Starting with rib 0 - you can work either clockwise or anti-clockwise, keeping the ribs orientated so the number on the base is on the inside of the mounting ring - rib 1, rib 2, etc. When you get to rib 9, repeat from rib 0.
*******************
To check the push-fit tolerance, I suggest printing the mounting ring first, and a single rib. If you find it slightly too loose/tight, adjust the Z-height only of all of the ribs by +/- 0.04mm (Precise Z Height is already enabled in the profile). Alternatively, if it's too loose, you could always glue the ribs into place.
