Carcassonne Big Box – Gridfinity Insert

I created a complete insert for the Carcassonne Big Box, designed around the Gridfinity modular storage system. If you’re a fan of organization and tired of loose tiles and scattered meeples, this might be exactly what you’re looking for!

🧩 About the Insert

This inlay uses Gridfinity bins to store every component from the Carcassonne Big Box:

• All base game and expansion tiles are stored in 3x3 bins. Tiles can be taken from the bottom during gameplay.
• All meeples, special tokens, and markers have dedicated color-coded compartments.
• There are special trays for the dragon, witch, dice, circus tent, and more.
• The score track, manuals, and other large flat elements fit neatly on top.
• A Gridfinity base grid is included to keep everything snug and modular inside the box.

The design follows the Gridfinity standard closely, except for the bins on plate 4, which are made to hold external tile holders from this model:

These bins were slightly modified (half-grid size and protruding over the grid padding) to allow the holders to fit efficiently.

👉 Please note: naming of expansions may vary in other languages and editions, but the structure of the insert supports all the components listed above.

🖨️ Printing Notes

• Printed in PLA, 0.2mm layer height, no supports required.
• Everything is dimensioned tightly to make optimal use of the box interior.
• Feel free to use your own color scheme, of course.

⚠️ Disclaimer

Please note:

• Tolerances are very low, which works perfectly with my Carcassonne set, but your components may vary slightly depending on edition or print run.
• Some bins, especially for tokens and figures, are designed to fit very snugly and assume standard wooden pieces.
