A small weather cage, also known as a Stevenson Screen, designed to protect the sensor inside from rain, for example, but also to ensure airflow as much as possible so that the measurements reflect real conditions.

Mini Stevenson Screen modular version

This is a modular version of our Mini Stevenson Screen for (not only) Multiboard project with an external width of 40 mm and an internal width of 28 mm (a 28-millimeter tube inside for the sensor), and a height that is basically what you want/need.

Because now you can not only create a Stevenson Screen as high as you need, simply by choosing the number of modules, but also access to the sensor is easier/more convenient.

Freedom of printing, but with certain rules

Print the base/holder (Multiboard Push-Fit or in the 2-hole version; 50 or 100 mm long), which includes. The holder is equipped with numerous holes, including: medium internal thread Multiboard (e.g. for attaching the sensor holder), large external thread Multiboard (for mounting the Stevenson Screen), and several small thread Multiboards, or channels, thanks to which you can hide the wires connecting the sensor quite well, e.g. with ESP8266/ESP32.

Print the bottom element (double thread - large and medium thread Multiboard). Print any number of middle elements. Finally, print the top element and the selected "plug" for it (full, grid, adapter for large thread Multiboard).

If you're printing a handle (arm) for outdoor use where it will be exposed to sunlight (temperature), I recommend screwing short Multiboard screws into the unused holes to reduce the risk of the arm deforming due to temperature changes, especially if the print is made of PLA.

Example sensor holders

When it comes to mounting the sensor inside the Stevenson Screen, a lot depends on what kind of sensor it will be, so everyone should probably prepare something according to their needs.

However, as part of the project, there are 3 sample sensor holders available, screwed into the medium thread in the holder. Matched to 4 pins (goldpins), i.e. for various popular sensors operating on the I2C bus.
