Update: also check out the new version with diamonds!
The Infinity Cage Cube is a totally unique design, combining everything I’ve learned about fidget joints, tolerances, and printability into one satisfying twisty masterpiece. Each cube is a hollow cage with ultra-thin, smoothed edges for maximum comfort—and a ball trapped inside each one for added movement, sound, and fidget fun.
I spent a huge amount of time optimising this for reliable, supportless printing (yes, the supports are built into the model!) and super-smooth operation right off the printer.
Why It’s Special:
- Unique Cage Design: Lightweight, open frames with trapped balls that rattle and spin.
- Fully Print-in-Place: No assembly needed—everything prints as one.
- Crazy Smooth: Designed for clean bridges, precise tolerances, and satisfying motion.
- Highly Optimised: Supports are built-in. Profiles are finely tuned for performance and ease.
Printing Instructions (Read This!):
⚠️ No matte or silk filament for the cube frame! They lack the required layer strength. Use PLA+ or strong PLA. You can use silk/matte for the balls.
Use the provided profiles – they’ve been dialled in for bridges, tolerances, and built-in supports.
Available Profiles:
- Minimal Supports: Fastest print. May need light knife cleanup on bridge undersides. Manually remove supports from balls.
- Full Supports: Slightly longer print but cleaner results. Easy support removal. Best print quality.
Each support profile includes:
- Single-colour print-in-place with balls inside
- Dual-colour version with a single filament swap
- H2D dual-colour version with cage and balls printed in different colours
- Split version – lets you print balls and cage separately, with a pause to insert balls mid-print allowing dual colour on any printer
This is one of my most refined and creative designs yet—fun to print, fun to fidget, and just plain cool to look at. If you want something that’s both a display piece and a satisfying tactile experience, give the Infinity Cage Cube a spin!
