Here is the flat version of the analog angle to sinus/cosinus convertor.
It is basically a trigonometric circle in your pocket.
the Assembly is quite straight forward, as shown in the animation you just assemble the two main pieces (both facing upward) and you secure them in place with the little C clamp.
It works similarly to my other bigger design but with a different curve, by aligning the arrow with your angle you place the slot of the sinus and cosinus at the right place to accurately read their value and back.
The curve can be modeled using parametric equation with the radius of the modified circle being the sinus of the angle relatively to a set zero (my CAD softer doesn't have parametric equation anymore so I had to do it algorithmically on openscad), the equation would look like something like that:
x=cos(sin(a)*U+Z)
y=sin(sin(a)*U+Z)
with a being the angle, U the distance of a unit (+1 and -1 to 0), and Z the distance from the center of 0 (which has to be rgeater than the unit value)
It makes for a fantastic conversation starter and gessing the shape of the curve is actually quite fun the first time and can be a bit of a challenge for many.
I also must say that I have surprised myself fidgeting with it more than I would have thought in the past few days.
don't forget to follow & check out my other design and if youu have any suggestion leave a comment and I will answer.
