This modular catchall tray started as one of our first 3D experiments using Autodesk Fusion and quickly became something much more useful (and weirdly addictive to customize - we went all out Star Wars themed in the renders, can you guess the characters that each tray represents?)
We love trays. For keys, AirPods, sunglasses… basically anything that ends up in pockets or floating around our desks. So we took that love and turned it up to 11 with a fully modular, remix-friendly design.
Choose from 5 interchangeable parts:
• Faceplate
• Base
• Valance
• (2) Legs
Note: We use the Bambu Cool Plate SuperTack and print with the top face of the Base on the plate for a nice smooth surface. If you use a Textured PEI plate or similar, simply orient the bottom of the Base as the first layer (unless you like the texture).
Use all five components for a bold desktop centerpiece or skip the valance and lose the legs for a sleek minimalist aesthetic. The choice is yours.
We’d love to see others build off this system by remixing the model — more leg styles, alternate faceplates, wild themes. Go for it!
We’ll be updating this to make it fully parametric soon — taking it from “simple catchall” to a full-blown modular organizing ecosystem. Unlike your grandpa’s homemade toupee, this ‘system’ is built to last (and actually looks good… at least Ma said so).
Let us know in the comments who/what you're printing this for, we'd love to hear it and see what colour combos you go for. If you have suggestions on designs or expansions, were all ears!
Thanks for downloading, happy printing!
