I came across the concept of this tensegrity floating table online and decided to replicate it using my own model.
Tensegrity essentially embodies a model that remains suspended solely through the structural integrity established by the tension resulting from its own weight. The upper part appears to be floating, and the illusion is quite intricate.
The entire structure is constructed from two identical parts, which must be connected using three strings (I utilized a sturdy synthetic string, but essentially, any type of string can be used). I incorporated some space to conceal the knots.
Assembly instruction:
- print the two identical parts (orientation on print profile is ideal, no supports needed).
- cut two 2 string with a length of roughly 16 cm
- cut one string which is roughly 10 cm (exact length needs to be tested)
- connect the two pieces a seen in the photos with the two longer string (make sure they are the same length)
- connect the shorter string and vary the length so that the whole structure is upright and stable
note: there is only one orientation which is stable, if you turn it upside down, it will not float.
