Benchobots, roll out!

Here I present you my first ever supplied 3D model – Dwayne The Benchformer Johnson.

When I first had the idea of a transforming Benchy, I thought it would be a funny twist on the classic 3D printing benchmark. After all, why settle for a simple boat when you can have a mighty, transforming titan of the high seas? And let’s be honest – there’s only one true head for this kind of project. 😉

My original plan was to make the model print-in-place, but after eight versions of shattered dreams and broken hinges, I decided to switch gears and embrace the power of snap-fit assembly. After all, even the mightiest Autobots need a few spare parts sometimes.

🛠️ How to Assemble Your Dwayne The Benchformer Johnson:

• Print the parts separately (because even heroes need some space).
• Snap the pieces together with a bit of pressure – the parts will lock in place, ready to defend your workbench from Decepticons and print failures alike.

• Transform and roll out!

   

⚙️ Work in Progress:
I’m still working on perfecting the model, but with final exams coming up, my time is a bit limited. I designed this Modell in Inventor 2025, and while it’s still a work in progress, i think it is already looking really cool.

What i will work on is:

• Making the perfect snap fit
• Improve the Joints so they lock in place better when folding
• Making a version that can actually be printed in place
• Maybe Try so it can stand on its own
