This is a 3D-printable version of the astonishing Dice Box Magic Trick.

The audience is shown a box containing six dice in seemingly random order. The box is then closed, and a seventh die is rolled. When the box is opened again, all six dice appear to match the number just rolled. A magical illusion that never fails to impress!

🧲 What You’ll Need

• 7 magnets (ø8×3 mm)
• Glue for securing the magnets

🖨️ Printing Tips

• The shown model was printed in two colors to highlight the pips on the dice.
• Print 6 dice normally. For the seventh die, insert a magnet during printing—this magnet will be hidden inside the dice afterward. (The print file includes the 7 dice already. One of the dice has space inside for the magnet. The printer stops once to insert the magnet into this dice)
• The cup (shown here in transparent filament) can be printed in any color—or even omitted entirely. However, using the included cup improves the illusion significantly.

🛠️ Assembly Instructions

• The magnets can be glued in together with the tiles. The glue ensures long-term durability.
• Pay close attention to magnet polarity! The trick works only if the dice always land showing a 6. Make sure the magnets are aligned accordingly.

🎲 Performing the Trick

1. Open the lid and casually show the audience the six randomly arranged dice (in truth, however, the plate is still on the actual dice)
2. Close the lid again.
3. You may hand the seventh dice to a spectator to examine.
4. Roll the seventh die so that it lands in the center of the lid—thanks to the magnets, it will always land with a 6 facing up.
5. Slowly lift the lid to reveal: all dice in the box now show the number 6! (The plate is now lifted by the magnet in the 7th dice with the lid)

💡 Extra Notes

• In the original version of this trick, a ferromagnetic metal plate (such as steel) is used inside the lid instead of six magnets. To simplify construction, I’ve replaced it with six magnets—but this has the side effect that the die tends to land in the same spot each time.
• If you'd prefer to recreate the original method, feel free to attach a custom-made metal plate to the underside of the plastic tiles. (But the public will hardly notice this)
