UPDATE 3 (30/05/2026): “V.2 Locking” - Plate 6 now contains a rail variant that locks the sliding mac holder into place when installed. To release the clip push the Mac towards the backplate as you slide to deflect the clip, continue to remove as normal to separate the pieces. My thanks to @Nerdo117 for their feedback.
The new locking rail is compatible with all V.2 covers should you wish to upgrade your current holder to it.
Please note: The locking rail's support material MUST be removed before surface mounting or the latch will not be able to flex and release.

UPDATE 2 (04/06/2025): V.2 is live, this version improves the security of the back plate mount with a cross brace on the upper surface - doesn't interfere with cables and uses the same mounting spacing as V.1 (e.g. the large tolerance V.2 Mac Mini Holders are compatible with large tolerance V.1 backplates, and the same for the smaller tolerance models - the original model (pre-03/06/2025 version) was a small tolerance spacing model).
UPDATE 1 (03/06/2025): Please note the revision in print profiles, now there are two versions of the print profile - a tight tolerances version that works on my X1C and generates a snug fitting mount, and a higher tolerances version that may be more suitable for an unenclosed printer and is less likely to run into fitting issues (thanks to @WojciechKawa for their feedback printing using an A1 Mini). The designs are the same in both profiles, just a very slight scaling factor increase to bring the tolerances from 0.6mm to 1.5mm respectively. Please choose the appropriate file for your needs and printer. Thanks.
How to choose which model to print:
Version 2 is the latest design with two print profiles available - a tight tolerance model which works best with enclosed/chamber printers (e.g. X1C) and a larger tolerance model which works best with open/non-enclosed printers (e.g. A1).
Inside each print profile is a backplate which is compatible with all of aesthetic designs (either with or without two tone direction guides). Then there is a solid sided model for those wanting the most minimal look, a vented model for some intricacy and added airflow to the sides of the M4 chassis, and an omnidirectional model which allows the mac mini to be orientated up or down to suit your mounting situation.
Background & Photos:
I needed a vertically orientated, easily accessible mount for my M4 Mac Mini behind a screen in a media unit, and thought I would share the design for others needing something similar.
These designs ensure:
- The power button and all ports are easily accessible.
- The Mac Mini can be removed from the mount quickly and without tools.
- The underside exhaust port is fully exposed on all sides to encourage airflow.
There are three versions of the design, one standard enclosed ("Solid") and one with side vents ("Vented") - these versions orientate the underside “Mac Mini” writing upwards along with the power button in the correct orientation, and with rear cabling upwards. The third design ("Omnidirectional") lets you orientate the Mac Mini up or down with access to all ports and power button maintained regardless of the orientation.

The backplate mounts with four 4mm screws which are countersunk and recessed to ensure no contact with the casing of the Mac Mini. The large central arrow denotes the primary orientation; with the small side arrows denoting the action of the cleat rails that secure the Mac cover portion of the print in place.
