We were looking to purchase some new lampshades for our house and I thought that rather than buy some I would have a go at making some.

This particular lampshade is for the bedroom but could be used in any room and with any design, my wife likes Dolphins hence the Dolphin theme.

One thing to note with any lampshade printed with PLA as this is is that they must only be used with LED energy saving bulbs, these bulbs still give off a little heat but no where near as much as a standard bulb.

The diameter of the shade is 100mm and it fits the UK standard pendant style light fitting where the diameter of the bulb holder is approximately 29mm I think I designed this particular one at 28.6mm anyway it fits perfectly.

The fastener spars which are on the top of the shade are 5mm and the actual shade itself is only 1.25mm thick the actual dolphin is embossed to -0.50 to highlight the Dolphin when the lamp is energized printed with the dual colour silk Neon-Magenta which is pretty cool, the dolphin pattern can also be seen when the lamp is off too.

In the RAW Model File I have also added a Standard shade with no pattern, this can be printed with any colour and looks nice as it is.
