📦 Model Description
These are some modifications to upgrade a printer enclosure available on Amazon: product link.
Originally, the frame was a bit unstable, so I redesigned the connectors and the corner pieces, making them stronger.
I also added a hole to the corners to allow tying a rope (a simple string works just fine), improving the overall stability, taking inspiration from tensile structures.
I also designed a small rope tensioner: you don't need to pull it too hard, but it helps a lot to stiffen the frame.
🧩 Corners
The corners require a small amount of support due to the design.
In my first version, they were more optimized for printing, but they used more material without any real advantage, so I preferred to slim down the design to save filament.
The joints are quite tight to improve stability—don't worry if they are a bit hard to insert!
🪢 Tensioner
The tensioner prints in one single piece. Due to its shape, there will be a bit of bridging inside the rope hole.
⚠️ Warning!
This kind of tensioner does not allow you to loosen the rope easily. I suggest making a simple knot on at least one side so you can remove it later if needed, otherwise, you will have to cut the rope.
🔑 Allen Key
The tool to tighten the tensioner is a standard 8 mm Allen key.
I included a printable version just in case, but if you already have one, there's no need to print it.
🖨 Print Tips
The included print profile is the same I used myself.
If you want to improve the result in the bridging areas, you can increase the fan speed during printing.
- For printers other than Bambulab:
- You might need to use supports even inside the holes.
- Also, the tensioner is quite a tricky part and may not work properly on printers with different tolerances—you might need to tweak your settings slightly.
