Adhesion Problems?✂️

When using the “Customize” functionality above, make sure to “Split to Objects” in the Bambu Slicer and "Arrange"!
This is important to make the Slicer aware that there might be more than a single body in the model. → Gives the shelf supports a brim for better bed adhesion.

This model is an extension of the HomeRacker - Core system.

Features

📈 Scalable in ANY direction

Not just in width and height, but also in depth. If you need a deeper shelf, you can simply attach one to the front or back. The shelves are designed to not overlap on a support, making extension almost seamless. Scale to your needs by clicking on the green “Customize” button above.

🔀 Mix and match

Like any other HomeRacker extension, these shelves are fully compatible with everything in the HomeRacker ecosystem.

In the picture below, you can see the so-called “Abomination”—part 10" rack, part 19" rack, part bookshelf. This one’s straight out of the nuclear wasteland known as my HomeLab... and may never be released in this exact form 😄

I’ve included fully parametric .f3d files (Fusion 360) so you can tweak and customize it to your heart’s content in the Parametric model maker or locally.

What's in the Box??

The included print profiles contain only the exact models shown in the print profile pictures, plus a bunch of lock pins.

These are somewhat complex builds, designed to demonstrate the system’s versatility.

If you want to create a custom build with different-sized shelves, I’ve added the original f3d-files alongside the print profile:

The original hex-style all-purpose shelf called HomeRacker - Shelf v21.
Just adapt the parameters shelf_width_units and shelf_depth_units to fit your design.

Let me emphasize one thing:

The attached print profiles are only examples!

Their only purpose is to give you a SMALL glimpse of what's possible.

I designed HomeRacker in a way, that you can build basically ANY shelf combination you fancy.

So: Be creative :-)

What's missing?

The rack frame itself is not included in this model (only selected parts).

Which size to choose?

If you want to customize your own all-purpose shelf, here’s what to keep in mind:

tl;dr: Support Lengths = Frame Dimensions

Max Dimensions (for hex shelves)

Depending on your printer, you'll have limitations on the maximum shelf size you can print. Here's a comparison across three printers:

A1 Mini: 12x11
P1S/X1C: 16x16 (if you tweak printer settings to ignore the exclusion area even more)
H2D: 21x20 (just played around in Bambu Studio — no actual clue if you can use two nozzles to print the full range)

🏗️ The thickness of the shelf will increase by 0.1mm per depth unit to ensure stability when customizing bigger shelves.

Many of you have already shared great ideas with me — thank you! Unfortunately, my time is very limited. That's why I created the open specification (see Technical Specs), so anyone can create extensions and models for HomeRacker without license restrictions. If you have an idea and the ability to design CAD models, please go ahead — I'd be happy to link your creations in the catalog!

💪 added y-axis supports to better distribute weight. There's always 2 of them per side and an alternative double-sided support. This feature is now part of the customizable Gridfinity Shelf v35
🗑️ removed deprecated folders/files in favor of customizable models. Did it because changes to this model (even a few lines of text) took forever to verify.

✨ Added customizable Gridfinity Shelf. Just select “Gridfinity Shelf v32” when clicking on Customize.
🎨 All-purpose shelf is now customizable. Just select “HomeRacker - Shelf v21” when clicking on Customize.
👴 Since there's the customizable version now, folders with specific dimension files are now DEPRECATED. The files will be removed by the end of the year in favor of the parametric files.
🏗️ The all-purpose shelves strength has been improved. The shelf thickness scales now with the `shelf_depth_units` by a factor of 0.1mm per unit.

Uploaded A1-Mini Showcase print profile

First upload of mk.1

Uploaded a ton more dimensions. The range now goes fro 4x3 up to 17x23 and all in between. That's 294 different shelf sizes. No worries. I created a small python script which does these exports for me. However, next time I'll create an openscade file. Problem is, that I reached the max upload limit of 500MB already.
