A customizable hex-shaped bug hotel composed of individual pieces that lock together with inserts. The bug hotel can be printed as pictured in a 7 segment shape, it can be mixed and matched, expanded and can even span a whole wall (if you have the filament and time to spare!) The pieces slot neatly to each other, although some of the end pieces might be a bit tight. I needed to hammer some of them in, which conveniently saved some glue. Others I glued into place with some superglue in the connectors. You will want to put this outside, so print this out of PETG or other suitably outdoorsy material - don't put your PLA in the sun for the bugs to get disappointed in.

The edge pieces with connectors are provided only as outer edge pieces, because why would you need anything else? 

For a fun puzzle, try to figure out how to put your shape together without cheating and looking at the completed image from the bottom.

Instructions:

• Print the model in the desired configuration
• Map out which edge pieces you need, there are pieces with male & female connectors with edges slanting either in or out in both directions. The plateful that is there is for the default configuration as pictured.
• Choose your colours and print!
• Fill with hollow shoots, sticks, drilled out pieces of wood etc. Make sure to NOT fill it with anything plastic or printed, the bugs like to nest in natural materials (no, PLA doesn't count as “natural”).
• Watch the insects swarm and feel good about saving the planet!
