Maglev Ore Block

Made this on request of a friend, to gift to his kid for their birthday (his son is crazy into Minecraft at the moment).

Making this model was really fun and i might make more blocks if someone is interested in anything specific!

I made two versions of this model:

Textured version:

This models shell is meant to be printed on a textured PEI plate. I tried to recreate the same roughness with a fuzzy skin modification. 

This version uses PETG Translucent for the insert, which is a tad thicker like the shell, to stop light bleed (who would've guessed that translucent lets light through).

Smooth version:

This version is designed to be a lighter, faster print. Its meant to be printed using a smooth build plate (smooth PEI, Supertach, etc.). 

The thinner walls allow for basic PLA to be used as the insert material. I also had to thin the walls of the insert toward the top, to have a more uniform brightness, since the maglev puck kind of blocks the light otherwise.
