🎲 Spherical D6 Dice
This is not your average six-sided dice! On the outside, it looks like a smooth sphere — but it still functions perfectly as a D6, thanks to a clever inner design. Inside the shell is a fixed octahedron (D8), and an 8mm stainless steel ball bearing that moves freely. When rolled, the ball settles into one of the eight vertices of the D8. Six of these vertices are aligned with numbered windows on the sphere’s surface, allowing for a fair and random D6 result.
Assembly is quick and mostly glue-free — but for added durability, I recommend applying a small amount of glue to secure the two halves together. If you'd like, you can also color in the numbers using a permanent marker to make them stand out more.
This dice is fun, functional, and visually striking. Whether you're a board game fan, a dice collector, or just love unique prints, this spherical D6 is a great addition to your collection.
🛠️ Instructions
- Print all parts – make sure to print the two outer shell halves and the three connector pins.
- Insert the pins – place the three small pins into the holes on one half of the sphere.
- Place the ball – drop a single 8mm stainless steel ball bearing into the central cavity.
- Snap it shut – align the second half of the sphere and press it together firmly until it clicks into place.
👉 Optionally, add a drop of glue for a more permanent seal. - (Optional) Use a permanent marker to color the numbers for better visibility.
- Roll and enjoy! – the ball will fall into one of the six active D8 vertices, giving you a clean and random D6 result through the numbered windows.
