I'm Back with a new Smooth AMS. The Generation 2.
This guy is a new design of the same concept to solve several issues.
- Smooth the jumping of the near-empty spool.
- Reduce the AMS forces required to feed the filaments.
- The PTFE tube acts like a fishing line to keep a smooth and even feeding.
- Reduces the friction.
- Prevent the filament from eating the AMS feeding funnel or anything.
What new then?
-NO ROOM IS TAKING FROM THE SPOOL.
-More compact but still as strung. (4.25g per unit and print 50% faster).
-It can be printed in PLA, but I strongly recommend using minimum ABS, PETg, or better.
-Yes, you can use any monster desiccant box.
But I highly recommend my Desiccant box. You don't need to remove the spool when refreshing it.
Additionally, I put a PTFE tube cutter guide. Most of the complaints are that the spool pulls back the PTFE because of an incorrect PTFE length. I hope that will solve that issue.
I did all the testing with standard PLA and silk PLA and have failures; please use ABS, ASA, PETg, or better. The ones I print for myself are all clear PETG, printed solid. At low light, they are outstanding. Even better than before.
On the PETg, I use "Adaptive layer height"(Adaptive 0.50, Smooth 5, Keep Minimum).
There are a few excellent YouTube videos for those who never use that function, and the BBL Wiki is fantastic. Here are the steps needed;
-Select one of the Smooth AMS,
-Select "Adaptive layer height" (near the middle) on the top menu.
-Select "Keep min".
-Put 0.50 in the [Adaptive] value box.
-Put 5 in the [Smooth] value box.
-Click once on [Adaptive] (a green to red bar will appear on the right side of the page).
-Click once on [Smooth].
-Click slice, and you did it.
Here is a screenshot of it before it gets sliced.

Also, In some pictures, there's the material flag. You can get it here: [https://makerworld.com/en/models/113769#profileId-122328.](https://makerworld.com/en/models/113769#profileId-122328.)
You should see what else I designed to remove a few other little quirks of the near-perfect Bambu Lab 3D Printers.
Enjoy less headache.
