There are a couple of other trays out there for drying desiccant in your PolyDryer, but I wasn't quite happy with any of them for one reason or another. So I drew this one up with the following goals:
- Should not hit the inlet rubber when being inserted
- Should allow for high airflow
- Should be stackable to increase capacity if needed
- Should be able to be put away without taking much space
- Should be able to easily pour silica beads out of it
- Any interface with the box needs to be printed in a durable orientation
I think I hit all those points with this design, and with no supports needed 😁
There is a channel in the basket that the arms feed in to so the basket hangs from them.

This is a fairly snug fit, so if you used ASA like I did (and thus had to use a brim) you may need to do a little cleanup with a hobby knife. If you use my profile, I intentionally set the brim gap to 0.02mm so it ensures a strong bond to combat warping. You can stack up to three boxes on these arms, supporting a lot of desiccant.
I would suggest assembling the unit, adding desiccant, then feeding the tube your PolyDryer came with in to the holes of the arms, then carefully lowering it in to the drier. The arms are rather stiff but if you aren't careful you could knock it off the tube while being moved around and spill your beans. Do a test run first 😁

There is a lid with a pouring cutout in one corner that allows you to easily transfer the desiccant back out once dry. The lid is not intended for use while drying, just for transport/removal! The snap on the front of the lid is mainly just for comfort as it really doesn't seem to work that well, but it does help keep the front down while it's under load so I kept it. The two large interfaces for the slots do the lion's share of holding it in place, and clasping it with your hand is necessary to ensure it does not come off accidentally.

When not in use, the arms can be put inside the box so it can be put away and takes up less than 1" of vertical space in storage.

Quick tip: desiccant beads are fragile and can shatter. Since most of mine is on more than it's 10th reuse, there are little bits of broken pieces here and there. I try to sift these out by loading my box over a trash can so any small pieces can fall out and be thrown away. Your heating element is under this basket and you don't want to go shaking silica chunks and dust in to it!
