Spool Tie Carousel 

I admit it. I have way too many ties. I like options, okay? If you are reading this, maybe you have too many ties as well.  I needed a way to be able to keep my unusually large number of ties while still being able to see them when I pair them with an outfit. The result is a rotating tie carousel that allows you to easily view your options! This makes use of those empty spools I know you have lying around. While you could print and use this carousel without a spool, I designed this to use the upper rim of the spool to be used to rotate the carousel.

A few things to note:

• This carousel maximizes the use of the 256x256 bed size. Should fit just fine! It will print on top of that purge line, which can be easily removed after the print is finished.
• PETG is the preferred plastic here. This is due to the tight fit of the hanger (by design to minimize the “swinging” effect.
• The cylinder doubles as a hidden storage container! What treasures will you hide here?
• Rotation is smoothest when the ‘load’ of the tie weight is balanced, so if you only have a few ties, you need to space them around to get smooth rotation
• If there is a squeak from ball and socket joint, a single drop of lubricant should take care of it (I used hair clipper oil I had on hand)

Assembly

This should be pretty obvious as I went with a simple screw on lid type connection.  Here are the steps listed in order:

1. Print Hanger and remove supports
2. Print Carousel 
3. Source an empty spool
4. Insert the spool onto the carousel cylinder
5. Thread the hanger cap onto the carousel cylinder to secure the spool in place.
6. Snap fit the hanger onto your 25mm/1" closet rod (Be careful here as the fit is very snug by design. PETG should perform just fine)

Specs 

• Tie Capacity = 30 ties (Sadly, I have more ties than this…)
• Hanger Size = 25mm or 1" (I think this is a standard closet rod)
• Spool diameter = 200mm (I'm using a standard Overture brand spool)

• Fully rotatable print-in-place ball style joint
