IMPORTANT:

I highly recommend using the Bambu Cool Plate Super Tack or similar build plate, and not a textured PEI sheet for printing the spool. Because of the thin walls and numerous start lines, I had poor results and bad first layer adhesion with a textured plate.

This reusable spool is designed to work with Bambu Lab refills and disassembled cardboard spools.

AMS and AMS lite compatible, and features a locking mechanism in the core to prevent accidental loosening of the threads.

You will start to feel resistance before the spool locks and there will be about a 5mm gap. Keep turning (Approx. 180 degrees) and the spool will lock and the gap will close. (If there is too much resistance, you may need to apply lubricant to the retaining ring. See note at end)

Included are a set of filament identification markers that snap into the open hexagons on the sides of the spool, and sit flush to prevent snags. They are a tight fit to avoid rattling, so press them in one corner at a time. When removing, press out on one corner first.

A blank chip is also included to allow customization.

When printing the chips, you can do a color change at the start of layer 3 (Pause already included in print profile) for better contrast, or leave them as a single color.

PETG or better (heat resistance) is recommended. PLA not recommended unless you only print in PLA, as it will sag in a filament dryer.

NOTE:  I strongly recommend printing in Bambu PETG HF or another “smooth” PETG. Translucent PETG has a bit too much resistance and is difficult to close fully. If printing in other materials, please lubricate the locking tabs or the retention ring with petroleum jelly or superlube.
