The junction box can hold two smart switches (Zigbee or Wifi).
One side has a snug fit coupling for flexible PVC electricity tube and the other side has two tubes that will slide in to the rubber seals of ‘outdoor’ switches and sockets. (see photos)
For the smart switch socket I borrowed and adjusted the design from Subribe.
So if you need an open mount for your smart switch, you can use their design:
Four Heat inserts M4 and four M4 Machine screws (8mm) are needed to make sure the lid stays where it belongs.
Note that the smart switches are positioned a bit off the side giving less space for the wiring.
This is done on purpose. One to make the screwholes accessable and the second reason is that (with the switch I used) the reset button is now accessable.
Background to why this design…
I have an air compressor which I sometimes use.
When it is fully charged it is silent and then I most of the time forget to turn it off when I'm finished.
The compressor starts up again when the pressure is below the treshold and this will happen mostly during the night.
As I have neighbors living close it is not always appreciated when that happens.
So now I use this smart switch.
It switches on or off using the pushbutton and when I forget this Home Assistant will shut it off at 22:00h.
Problem solved!
