I am quite fond of this pencil case design, but it's only available in a single size and the model cannot be remixed, so I created a similar two-part vase-mode case from scratch that can be customized to suit a variety of applications:

• Configurable width, depth, and height of the main case.
• The lid can be given additional inner height, allowing for complete cases of nearly twice the height of your printer's build volume.
• Optional ribbing on the front/back and/or sides of the case.
• Optional shallow embossed text on the lid.

The included profile offers a sturdy box and lid that are sized to hold roughly 150 standard 3x5 inch index cards for about 45 grams of filament. The lid also stacks securely on the bottom of the case when you wish to keep the case open.

The parametric design exports the lid and case body as two separate plates; in most cases they can be grouped on the same plate if you enable “print by object”. When sizing your boxes, remember to account for the inner space lost by the corner chamfers. I recommend a 0.9mm wall thickness and at least 4 bottom shells for strength, with a standard 0.4mm hot end. If you make large boxes or adjust the wall thickness you may need to experiment with the “lid_tolerance” variable to get a snug fit.
