Modelo 3D Roll Up Storage Box por DawgEngr no MakerWorld

Descrição

A roll up storage box for organizing small parts and hardware! Mostly print in place! It features 8 bins of storage, and an internal storage core.

This is a remix based on “Rolling Storage Box” by 3d-Printy, I found originally on Thingiverse, long ago.

I loved this print for a long time, but wanted to reprint it on my Bambu since I knew I could get a much better result than the one I printed on my ANET A8. I was surprised to find it had not already been posted to Makerworld.

I decided to remix it to fix the one issue I always had: hardware falling out when I tried to roll up the storage. So, I added lids that can slide over each bin to prevent it.  I also made the 3MF files so that 7 out of 8 bins can print in place. The last bin can be attached using a piece of filament through the hinge.

All bins that were included in the original model are included in my downloads with the print in place pin installed. Just download using the “Download STL/CAD” files option.

If you want to customize exactly which bins you use in your organizer, its very easy in the 3MF file I am posting. Simply right click on the bin you want to replace in the “Objects” menu and click “Replace with STL” and choose the bin you want to use. It should import with the proper location and orientation to print in place.

Assembly:

  • Attach the “Start” Bin to the print in place bins using a piece of filament through the hinges. Make sure you trim the filament flush.
  • Assemble the Core to the Core End.
  • Lay out the bins flat. Align the tabs in the “Start” Bin with the groove in the top and bottom core pieces. Slide the Core to towards the start bin until it reaches the end of the groove.
  • You can then roll up the rest of the bins around the core.
  • (Optional) A piece of filament can also be used to hold some ribbon in the groove on the “End” Bin to make the core easier to open.
  • (Optional) 6 mm x 3 mm Round Magnets can be inserted into the Start and End Bins to hold the organizer closed. I found the bins stays close just fine without them, but I like the feel of the magnet closure.

For me the first time rolling up all the bins can be a little troublesome, but after one or two times it gets pretty smooth.

For visual learners I would suggest watching the video from the original model creator to help figure out the assembly process:

Of course if you like the model I encourage you to visit the original post and tip and or thank 3D-printy for his excellent work.
