RackMod 1U has grown significantly, and I’ve received incredible appreciation from users around the world. Now, it’s time to introduce a new family member—the big brother of the lineup: RackMod 2U.

RackMod 2U features the same slide-in-place function as RackMod 1U Slide, allowing you to access your devices from the front of the rack without detaching the entire unit. This makes swapping out and managing your devices much easier and more convenient.

What is RackMod?
 

RackMod is a clean, simple, and modular solution for efficient device storage. The system consists of main rack parts and customizable modules that you can easily 3D print. Just print the main components, slide them together, and select the modules you need. Place them in your desired slots, slide them in, and you’re all set!

  The modular module is designed to fit most square devices. Simply print the parts, slot them into the base to secure your device, and trim off any excess plastic.

• Can i use the RackMod 1U Modules with RackMod 2U?

No, RackMod 1U and RackMod 1U Slide uses other dimensions so therefore it’s not possible.

• How long does it take to print?

Each main part takes approximately 4 hours and uses around 200–300g of filament.
Modules vary depending on the design but typically take 2–4 hours to print.

• Will more modules be added?

Absolutely! Many more modules are planned for the future.

• I need a custom module for a device. What should I do?

You can use the Blank Module as a template to design a custom module for your device. If you’re not experienced with 3D modeling, try reaching out on forums—someone in the community might be able to help. Alternatively, leave a comment here with the details, and I’ll consider adding it to my list of future modules.

• What filament should I use? 

I’ve been using BambuLab’s Basic Matte PLA, and the results have been fantastic.

• It’s made out of plastic—will it hold?

From my testing, I haven’t encountered any issues with breakage. However, keep in mind that since it’s a 3D print, it may not support very heavy devices.
