This remix of the Modular Battery Storage System Remixed by ChunkAhoy - MakerWorld has the following changes made:
- Base thickened to allow for mounting screw holes
- Countersink and Counterbore holes added (#8 and #6 screw respectively) for wall mounting
- Angled wall mounts added
- Screw sizes marked on back of mounts
- Thicker at the base to angle the battery storage box upward (to keep batteries from falling out)
- Top and Wall Side marked
- Walls of the base piece increased in height to match the thicker base
- Ensures that the battery storage grid bins/cubes have the correct clearance at the top (near the lid when it's closed)
- Added a thin overhang at the top of the TPU washer groove to keep the TPU filament washer in place (requires no glue now to hold it in place)
- Created bases and tops that are matched to open Up, Down, Left, or Right
- Each is labeled in the project file
- The bottom surface of each base piece (Up, Down, Left, and Right) are all labeled, and all of the holes are labeled
- The holes/bottom surfaces are labeled in the direction that they will mounted (matching the tops/lids)
- Plate 1 and 5 match (base/lid - For Lid Opening Up)
- Plate 2 and 6 match (base/lid - For Lid Opening Down)
- Plate 3 and 7 match (base/lid - For Lid Opening to the Left)
- Plate 4 and 8 match (base/lid - For Lid Opening to the Right)
- Created CR2025, CR2032, SR/LR41, SR/LR44 (works with LR1154) cell battery holders with removable face plates
- Removable face plates decrease the print time significantly and improve legibility of the font/characters
- Note: The SR/LR41 cell battery holder is also compatible with 357/303 cell batteries
- Created a matching CR2025, CR2032, SR/LR41, SR/LR44, and A23 battery holding bin that works with the modular battery storage system
- Updated the main hinge to allow for a 2mm thick metal rod to be used for the hinge
- Updated the main hinge (and the base piece's hinge holes) to allow for caps to be glued to the ends to ensure that the hinge rod does not come out
- Updated the front locking hinges to allow for a 2mm thick metal rod to be used for the hinge
- Updated the front locking clips to allow for the 2mm metal rod
- Updated the front locking clips to allow for caps to be glued to the ends to ensure the hinge rods do not come out
- Updated the front locking clips to have a bit more of a sharp round on the under side to ensure a better snap/lock on the base piece
- Updated the lid where the locking clips attach to have a wider indent, allowing for easier hinge rod installation
- Updated the logo on the lid(s) to ensure that the logo is now a separate part (better for printing quality)
- Adjusted the shape of the hinge hole's top surface for where the locking clips rotate around the lid to allow the clips to rotate a bit more than the original design allowed
Important Info:
- This remix has a cell battery holder/base cube that is designed for CR2025, CR2032, SR/LR41, and SR/LR44 cell batteries along with A23 batteries (often used in remote controls)
- IMPORTANT: All other battery storage base cubes (for AA, AAA, C, D, etc.) should be downloaded/printed from the original model/print found at Modular Battery Storage System Remixed by ChunkAhoy - MakerWorld
- Note: Should the original model cease to exist at some point, I have a downloaded .3mf of it and will add the above base storage cubes to my project file ONLY if that should occur.
- This is to ensure that the original designer receives the proper downloads, prints, likes, boosts, etc.

- The print is set to 0.1mm print layer height to ensure better quality hinge holes in the base piece(s) and lid(s), along with in many of the other pieces where having more precise curves and edges is key. The base(s)/lid(s) can be printed at 0.2mm layer height, but it will cause the holes for the hinges to be a bit tighter, requiring more force to push the rods in.
- The main hinge rod is around 202-203mm in length
- The front locking clip hinge rods are each around 16-17mm in length
- If you have the ability to file the cut hinge rod down, you might start with the longer cut length (i.e. 203mm or 17mm depending on the hinge rod being cut) and file the end down if needed
- When putting in the hinge rods, especially the locking clip hinge rods, it's best to put the rod in first, put a small bead of super glue on the tip of the rod, and press the cap onto the end
- Note: It is best to pre-press the caps on before putting the hinge rods into the hinge holes to ensure that any variance in the rod diameter vs the cap hole is taken care of
- The caps can then be taken off before final mounting of the hinge rods in the hinge holes
- It is also not important if the hinge rod/cap get glued to the main body/base for the main hinge (that opens the lid), since the lid hinge hole is the part that rotates around the hinge
- Care should be taken with the locking clip hinge caps, though, since the clip needs to be able to rotate on the lid hinge hole
- Note: It is best to pre-press the caps on before putting the hinge rods into the hinge holes to ensure that any variance in the rod diameter vs the cap hole is taken care of
Needed Materials Apart from Printed Pieces:
- 2mm x 300mm 304 Stainless Steel Rod
- You should only need one rod, but more are good if the length of the cut is off
- Another material rod could also be used instead of stainless steel, but the steel is quite strong/durable compared to something like aluminum
- TPU filament - for base top rim gasket
- Super Glue
- #8 wood screws and/or #6 machine screws (with accompanying drywall anchors)
- Screwdriver or drill/drill bits to screw in any drywall anchors and screws
- Pliars or similar tool
- To help push in hinge rod if holes are tight
- Hack Saw or Pliars (that can cut steel)
- If using a Hack Saw, make sure to secure the hinge rod in a vice - too slippery to hold in your hand when cutting (not to mention completely unsafe)
- If using Pliars, the cut end will have a pointy end that should be filed or trimmed down, especially if the metal is pressed outward, increasing the rod diameter at the cut edge
Assembly and Installation Instructions:
- Insert the TPU filament into the gasket slot in the top of the base piece of the battery storage system (yellow TPU filament in my pics)
- Determine the proper orientation of your battery storage system when it will be mounted on the wall (lid opening up, down, left, or right).
- Determine which holes you will need to use based on your battery storage system's orientation (holes are marked clearly on the back for which holes work for each orientation, along with which orientation base you printed).
- Note: Up/Down bases and Left/Right bases are basically the same, but the holes/text on the back are labeled/oriented according to the direction that makes the directions easy to read/oriented correctly. There is nothing functionally different between any of the bases.
- Place the base on the wall in the correct orientation where you want to mount it, and use a level to ensure that it is level.
- Once the base piece is on the wall, and the level shows that the top is level, mark the holes that you want to use.
- My installation used 2x studs and the left countersunk holes (with 2x #8 interior/exterior wood screws with a flat head) and 2x drywall anchors and the right counter bore holes labeled as UD on the back (Up/Down - with 2x #6 machine screws with round heads - the ones that come with the drywall anchors).
- Remove the base from the wall, and drill any needed holes, install wall anchors, etc.
- Cut the hinge rods for the main hinge (around 202-203mm) and the base/lid locking clips (around 16-17mm each).
- Attach the locking clips to the lid using the 16-17mm hinge rods.
- Note: It is a tight fit to slide the hinge rods in with the locking clips - I may tweak in a future update/revision the indent in the lid that points towards the center of the front of the lid to make it easier to slide the locking clip hinge pins in from the direction of the center of the front of the lid.
- Glue the hinge caps to the locking clip hinge rods by placing a small bead of super glue on the end of the rod.
- Note: It's okay to get glue on the hinge cap and on the locking clip itself. Just don't glue the cap/clip to the lid by accident. The caps are just to help the rod from shifting, so not a lot of glue is needed to hold them on.
- Slide the main hinge rod into the lid/base hinge hole, and glue on the remaining 2x hinge caps.
- Note: Again, it's okay to accidentally glue the cap to the base. Just don't glue the cap to the lid. The lid is the part that pivots around the hinge, but it does so in the middle of the part, not at the ends where the cap is glued.
- Place the correct screws that you wish to use through the appropriate holes in the base piece and thread them through the corresponding holes in the angled wall anchor pieces (shown as white wedges with text on them in my pics) so that the tips of the screws poke out the back.
- This should help you get them generally lined up with your wall holes/anchors and easier to install onto the wall.
- Screw the base (with lid/clips now attached) to the wall, using the pre-inserted screws, angled wall anchors, and any drywall anchors used.
- Attach any face plates to the bases of the cell battery holders/sliders for the CR2025, CR2032, LR/SR41, LR/SR44 cell batteries
- Add all cell batteries to their corresponding holders/sliders, and insert the holder/sliders into the cell battery base cube
- Add any other batteries to the other base cubes that you have for AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, or A23 batteries (must download these from the original model/creator linked above)
- Add the cubes to the battery storage system base, which is now mounted to the wall
- Stand back and admire your amazing work.
